Across America by Motor CycleThe Project Gutenberg is fantastic. So many books…so many old books. For free! This is my current read. Gives great descriptions of what our roads were like in the early 20th century.

Made in Great Britain in 1922 by an English gentleman fresh out of the war, who wanted to blow the cobwebs out of his brain. He decided to float “across yon herring-pond and have a trot round America.” What ensues after his arrival are wonderful daily details of his travels across the continent.
